Phoenix Pool & Yard Renovation Experts
Building a custom pool in Arizona means designing for the way you actually live, not copying what works somewhere else.
With over 30 years of experience building pools in the Valley, we understand what materials hold up in extreme heat, how to create spaces you'll use year-round, and how to guide you through design and permitting with clarity.
From your first conversation through final walkthrough, we work directly with you to create a pool that fits your home, your family, and how you want to spend time outside.

Over the years, we've built custom pools in DC Ranch, renovated established backyards in Arcadia, and created complete outdoor spaces from Scottsdale to Queen Creek.
Some projects focus solely on the pool. Others encompass the full outdoor experience: travertine decks, outdoor kitchens, fire features, putting greens. Whatever your vision, our approach remains consistent: do exceptional work, keep you informed throughout, and create a space your family will love for years to come.
Pool Construction VS Pool Remodeling
New pool construction is best when:
You've recently purchased a home without a pool and want to create the outdoor space you've been envisioning. Many homeowners in Gilbert, Chandler, and Queen Creek start with a blank backyard and build a complete outdoor living environment from the ground up.
Your lot presents unique opportunities. Hillside views in North Scottsdale. Mature landscaping in Arcadia. A large open yard in Paradise Valley. Custom pool design lets you work with what you have instead of forcing a standard approach.
You're planning a complete backyard renovation that coordinates pool, hardscape, outdoor kitchen, and landscaping as one cohesive project. This design-first approach often creates better results and smoother construction than adding elements piecemeal over several years.
Your family's needs have changed. Maybe you have young kids who need a play-friendly shallow area, or you're empty nesters who want a spa-focused design for relaxation. Custom construction lets you build exactly what works for how you'll actually use the space.
Pool remodeling makes sense when:
You have an existing pool with good bones but outdated finishes, tile, or equipment.
Pool remodeling can give you a modern look and improved functionality at a lower investment than starting over.
Your pool's footprint and location work well, but the style doesn't match your home or preferences anymore. Sometimes updating the finish, tile, and deck achieves what you're looking for without rebuilding.
You're planning to sell within a few years. If you're updating the pool primarily for resale value, a remodel often makes better financial sense. You get the visual impact buyers want without the higher cost and longer timeline of full reconstruction.
Your yard doesn't have room for major changes. If your lot is tight, your landscaping is mature, or access for heavy equipment is limited, working within your existing pool footprint often makes more practical sense than tearing everything out and starting fresh.
Our Pool Design & Construction Process
Building a custom swimming pool means making dozens of decisions: size, shape, depth, finishes, equipment, decking materials, and how everything connects with your home and yard.
Our design-first process helps you work through those choices with clarity instead of feeling overwhelmed.

We start with a conversation about how you want to use your outdoor space.
✔️ Do you entertain often?
✔️ Do you have kids who'll be in the pool daily?
✔️ Are you thinking about adding an outdoor kitchen or fire feature eventually?
Understanding your goals helps us design something that actually fits your life instead of just looking good in a rendering.
We'll also discuss your lot: sun exposure, existing landscaping you want to keep, how the pool will relate to your home's indoor spaces, and any HOA or municipal requirements we'll need to address.

Once we understand what you're trying to create, we'll work through the design specifics together. Pool shape and size relative to your yard. How the shallow end and deep end work for your family. Where the equipment goes so it's accessible but not an eyesore. How the pool connects to your patio or the side of your house. This is where most of the important decisions happen.
For approved projects, we create full-color 3D renderings so you can see how everything comes together before we start digging. This gives you a chance to live with the design mentally before we commit to it physically. If you look at the rendering and think "that spa should be bigger" or "the steps are in the wrong spot," we can adjust it immediately.

We start with permits and HOA approvals. From there, you're typically looking at 10 to 16 weeks until completion, depending on the scope of the project.
Once permits are approved and the paperwork is out of the way, we begin excavating and build the structural shell. Next comes tile, coping around the pool edge, and decking work or hardscape installation, like travertine pavers.
The final steps are applying your selected pool finish, equipment installation, and getting the pool filled and operational.
Inspections sometimes take longer than we'd like, and occasionally materials arrive late. None of that's unusual for Arizona pool construction. But don't worry, we'll keep you posted throughout the process so there are no surprises about when you'll be able to use your pool.
Choosing the Right Pool Finish
Plaster

Classic smooth finish, available in white or colors. Most affordable option, typically lasting up to 15 years with proper care.
Pebble

Natural stone aggregate, aka PebbleTec or similar. More durable than plaster, with a textured feel, and excellent color retention in Valley sun.
Glass

Premium glass jewel finishes with brilliant color and shimmer. Most durable and easiest to maintain, but higher upfront investment.
Tile

Tile is one of the first things you notice about a pool. Glass tile creates shimmer and reflection. Stone and ceramic in earth tones feel grounded and natural.
Things to Consider When Designing a Pool in Phoenix
Heat Management
We'll discuss decking materials that stay cool underfoot. Travertine is popular in Scottsdale and Paradise Valley for good reason. We'll also talk about shade structures, water features that create cooling effects, and pool orientation to minimize direct afternoon sun exposure.
Water Conservation
Arizona pools lose water to evaporation faster than pools almost anywhere else. We can incorporate design features that reduce water loss and recommend equipment that minimizes waste.
Monsoon Season
Summer storms bring intense rain in short bursts. We design grading and drainage to handle that water properly, protecting both your pool and your home's foundation.
Sun Exposure
Not every pool finish holds up equally well under Valley sun. We'll guide you toward materials that maintain their color and beauty long-term, not just for the first season.
Digging Conditions
Tough ground, expansive clay, or rocky terrain make digging a pool in Arizona a real challenge. We've hit all of it, and we factor these realities into timeline and structural approach from the beginning.
Permits & HOA
Many Valley communities have specific guidelines about pool setbacks, fencing, equipment screening, and design approvals. We'll help you navigate those requirements and submit what's needed for approval.
Choosing a pool contractor in Arizona is a significant decision for your home and your family.
These are the questions homeowners in Scottsdale, Phoenix, and across the East Valley ask us most often during their first consultation.
Costs depend on the specifics of your project. How big the pool is, what shape makes sense, which materials you prefer, and what else you're building alongside it. A simple pool with basic finishes is where most projects start. Begin layering in travertine, a spa, an outdoor kitchen, or fire features, and the investment grows accordingly.
We'll go over all of this when we sit down together. We'll talk about what you're hoping for, what your property calls for, and what's realistic given your budget. If something's not a good match for your yard or your plans, we'll tell you straight and help you find better options. We build what makes sense for you—not what pads the invoice.
Yes. Pool remodeling is one of our most requested services, particularly in mature Scottsdale areas, Arcadia, and Paradise Valley where original pools are showing their age.
We handle finish upgrades, tile and coping replacement, layout enhancements like Baja shelves, and equipment improvements that reduce long term operating costs. When the structure is sound but the design and materials are outdated, renovation is often more practical than full replacement.
Every project is planned around your home and how you want to use it. Most projects start with a design conversation to understand your goals, layout, and priorities. From there, we guide the process through approvals, construction, and final details. The build typically includes pool construction or renovation, equipment installation, and coordinated decking or hardscape.
We focus exclusively on building and renovation. Routine cleaning, chemical service, and minor repairs are not part of our offerings once the project is complete.
New pool construction typically takes 10 to 16 weeks from permit approval to final walkthrough. Pool remodels move faster, usually 3 to 6 weeks depending on the scope of work.
That said, several variables can affect timelines. Some municipalities process permits more quickly than others. Monsoon season can delay certain phases of construction. If design decisions take longer than expected, that naturally extends the schedule. We'll provide you with a realistic timeline at the start and keep you informed if anything shifts along the way.
Yes. Every city in the Valley requires permits for pool construction, and most municipalities also require them for significant remodeling work. Whether it's Phoenix, Scottsdale, Gilbert, Chandler, Tempe. Each has its own permitting process and inspection requirements.
We manage the permit applications and coordinate all necessary inspections as part of your project. If you're in an HOA community (which covers most of North Scottsdale and Paradise Valley), we also help you handle those architectural approvals. You don't need to navigate city codes or committee meetings on your own.
Yes. Complete backyard renovations allow us to create truly cohesive outdoor spaces. If you're considering pool construction or remodeling alongside outdoor kitchens, fire features, pergolas, travertine patios, or artificial turf, we can coordinate everything under one project.
This approach works particularly well if your backyard hasn't been updated in 15 or 20 years and multiple elements need attention. One design vision, one construction timeline, one team managing all the details.
We specialize in custom gunite (concrete) pools designed specifically for Arizona's climate. This includes geometric designs, freeform shapes, and everything in between. We also integrate spas, Baja shelves, beach entries, and water features.
We don't install vinyl liner pools or above-ground pools. Our focus is on permanent, custom construction that's built to last in the Valley's extreme conditions.
We handle hardscape installations (travertine, pavers, walkways), artificial turf, and xeriscape planning. This includes desert-appropriate plant selection, irrigation system design and upgrades, and ensuring proper drainage throughout your space.
We do not provide ongoing landscape maintenance, mowing, trimming, or seasonal care.
We'll design and install your complete outdoor space, but you'll work with a landscape maintenance company for routine upkeep once the project is finished.
We're based in Tempe and primarily serve Scottsdale, Phoenix, Paradise Valley, and the East Valley communities of Gilbert, Chandler, Mesa, and Queen Creek. We also work in Fountain Hills, Cave Creek, and Rio Verde when projects align with our expertise.
If you're outside these areas, no problem - please reach out. We'll let you know whether we can help or point you toward someone who can serve your location.
We don't provide in-house financing, but many of our clients use home equity lines of credit, contractor financing programs, or personal loans to fund their projects.
If financing will be part of your decision, we recommend getting pre-approved before we begin the design phase. That way, when we present your proposal, you'll have confidence in what works for your budget, and we can focus on creating a plan that aligns with your financial parameters.
